For planting Hydrangeas is it OK to plant them in pots? Will they have enough room to grow?

Yes it is OK to have them in container gardens. If they start to over grow the container just re pot with fresh soil and larger container. Trim out any old or dead looking areas to allow for more new growth. The biggest problem with container gardens is keeping them moist, or too moist. It takes a while to get to that happy medium.

Yes hydrangeas can be grown in pots. Just keep them well watered an fed. The only downside I have found, there blooms are not as large as in the garden
Reply:Sure, providing the pot is big enough. If it outgrows the pot it's in then just repot it in a larger container.
Reply:That's the only way I grow them. I love them so much I would never want to have to leave them. I just put them in larger pots every few years.
Reply:Hydrangeas grow in a shrub, not bunches like marigolds. You can start out with a pot but since they are much larger than that, eventually they'll need to go in the ground.
Reply:as long as the pot is big enough to add soil after the rootball is put in. You dont want to damage the roots and having enough soil in the pot will allow the roots to get oxygen and water.
Reply:Yes, Hydrangeas will do fine in a large pot but you will have to watch the water situation and don't let the soil dry out too much
Reply:Seems like this has been answered well enough. But, I would like to add that the more acid the soil the more blue to purple it will become; more alkalinic and the pinker they are. Mine sits where a large pine tree had been for a long time, so the soil is very acidic. I have very deep purple flowers; my neighbor is so jealous...love it. Hers are pale blue. It is important to leave the wood stand over winter. When spring comes and the wood that sprouts leaves can stay and the 'dead' wood can be removed. I found out the hard way, when we used to cut down all the wood, the nursery guy said 'WRONG'. This is why it stopped blooming. I also had to feed it bone meal for while to get it back to it's glorious blooming self.
Reply:Well I like that answer that the person before gave me gave but ours are better in the ground they look more naturel put coal in the soil to turn the flowers blue.
Reply:It's fine to plant them in pots and if you add a little lime, they

have pink blossoms. My mom had a nursery when I was growing up and one of the main things she sold was Hydrangeas. I think I must have rooted at least 10,000 !! Just

make sure there's plenty of room for growth.....
